Fitnesspark Winterthur is currently undergoing a major transformation. Through this renovation, we are laying the foundation for a Fitnesspark that is even better tailored to the needs of our members.
During the construction period, existing areas are being renewed, spaces are being redesigned, and selected facilities are being enhanced. On this page, we provide regular updates on the progress of the works. Our construction diary follows the different phases of the renovation and shows how Fitnesspark Winterthur is continuously evolving.
This gives you the opportunity to follow the transformation up close and see how the new Fitnesspark Winterthur is gradually taking shape.
Phase 1: Renovation Begins and First Insights
With the first deliveries of materials and machinery, work officially began on site. Over the coming weeks, numerous areas will be dismantled and prepared for the next phases of construction.
Before work gathers pace, we are capturing key areas of the Fitnesspark in their original state. This includes the reception area, where members pass through every day.
The training area has been completely cleared. All equipment and fixtures have been removed from the former fitness area, allowing the dismantling work to begin. For the first time, the full size of the space is visible, revealing its potential for the changes ahead.
Phase 2: Making Room for What’s Next
The reception area is among the first spaces undergoing renovation. Following the removal of the reception furniture and entrance turnstiles, the ceiling panels were also dismantled.
What started on the surface now continues beneath our feet. After the first elements in the reception area were dismantled, the existing subfloor is now being broken up and removed. This creates the foundation for the new flooring system.
The renovation work has now reached the training area as well. Once the equipment had been cleared out, work continued seamlessly. The flooring was removed and the ceiling was dismantled.
Likewise, existing restrooms and several neighbouring rooms were removed. This will allow for a significantly larger training area to be created in the new Fitnesspark.
Another major part of the renovation focuses on the locker rooms. The first changes are already clearly visible: lockers have been removed and the ceiling has been dismantled.
Changes are already clearly visible in the first group fitness studio. The existing flooring is being removed, gradually clearing the space for the upcoming stages of the renovation.
Phase 3: The Relaxation Zone
A look at the pool area reveals the next stage of the transformation. The existing ceiling has been removed, and scaffolding has been installed above the pool to make the work in this area possible.
Work around the pool is progressing down to the finest details. Existing tiles are being removed one by one, allowing this area to be completely renewed as well. The process requires a considerable amount of manual work and precision.
Work is also well underway inside the pool itself. Using a hydraulic breaker, the existing pool floor is being broken up and removed.
The transformation extends to the sauna area as well. The former infusion sauna has been dismantled step by step, making way for the next phase of work in this part of the facility.
The renovation also includes the existing Finnish men’s sauna. Cladding, insulation materials and other built-in elements are being dismantled and removed.
Not every room is disappearing. Some are being reimagined. The former Rhassoul area will be transformed into a new massage room, giving this space an entirely new purpose within the Fitnesspark.
Together Towards Reopening
The renovation is not only a challenge for the construction teams, but also for the staff on site. It is all the more rewarding to witness the progress day by day. Together, we look forward to welcoming our members back to the newly renovated Fitnesspark Winterthur very soon.
